Universiti Putra Malaysia Clinched 6th Spot in Greenmetric World University Ranking.

Abstract
SERDANG, January 3rd - Universiti Putra Malaysia clinched the 6th spot with total points of 7,698.60 in the UI Greenmetric World University Ranking making it the only Malaysian university in the top 10 of the esteemed listing.
The top three spot went to University of Berkeley, California, University of Nottingham and York University.
Universitas Indonesia, as the host sits at the 15th spot.
The selected criteria include the collection of a basic profile of the size of the university and its zoning profile, whether urban, suburban, rural as well as green space. The next category of information concerns electricity consumption because of its link to our carbon footprint, then the use of transport, water usage, and waste management. Beyond these indicators, the ranking also review how the university responds to or deals with the issue of sustainability through policies, actions, and communication.
Universiti Putra Malaysia’s reputable green initiatives are the annually held tree planting in collaboration with Mitsubishi and Recycling Rally, firstly held on June 10th 2010.
The University’s Greenmetric committee is led by the Office of Marketing and Communication, and strongly supported by the Corporate Planning Division as well as the Faculty of Environmental studies.
The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is an initiative of Universitas Indonesia which was launched in 2010 as part of its strategy to acknowledge universities for their efforts in reducing carbon footprint and thus help combat global climate change.
