Abstract

Bacterial wilt caused by Pseudomonas solanacearum is one of the most common plant diseases of bacterial origin in Malaysia. The pathogen has a wide host range. The host plants may be closely related species or not related at all. Kelman (1953) listed 197 species of host plants belonging to 33 families which could be infected with the bacterium. In Malaysia, P. solanacearum had been reported on 26 hosts (Singh 1973; Navarathan 1967) distributed among 13 families. Abdullah (1980) reported three new hosts, two in the family Euphorbiaceae and one in the Leguminoseae
