Abstract
The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of different concentrations of IBA on the rooting response of softwood cuttings of Bauhinia purpurea L. The interaction of treatment at different concentrations on rooting percentage was non-significant. A significant variation at P<0.01 level was observed on mean root length and number of shoots while, mean number of roots and shoot length was significant at P<0.05. Maximum rooting (87.50 %) was recorded in untreated cuttings (control) followed by (65.00 %) rooting in the cuttings treated with IBA 2000 ppm and (65.00 %) rooting in IBA 4000 ppm and IBA 6000 ppm treated cuttings following the trend Control>IBA 2000 ppm>IBA 4000 ppm> IBA 6000 ppm. Maximum number of roots and root length were also recorded in untreated cuttings.
