A method of storing and identifying a plurality of plant leaf characteristics(101) by using a plurality of descriptors is provided, characterized in that, the method includes the steps of capturing at least one plant leaf characteristic (101), extracting the captured at least one plant leaf characteristic (101), determining the plurality of descriptors associated with the captured at least one plant leaf characteristic (101), storing the plurality of descriptors and the captured at least one plant leaf characteristic (101) in a database, comparing a second plurality of descriptors from an unknown captured at least one plant leaf characteristic with the stored plurality of descriptors and returning a predetermined number of output match of identified at least one plant leaf image.
