Abstract
In Malaysia,Malay culture and Chinese culture have been allowed to co-exist in multicultural social setting.This paper intends to compare the difference of both cultures from the perspective of marriage.The discussion is divided into seven aspects,namely the selection criteria of spouse,marriage desire,marital age,marital customs,role of women after marriage,the possibility of divorce as well as rate of fertility.The finding is based on literature review and field study via questionnaire and interview.It is found that there are similarity and yet difference between these two cultures,though the modernization aspect in Chinese culture is more noticeable.
