Abstract

This is a parasitic study of commercial fishes and invertebrates of the South China Sea,maily of the coastal waters of Terengganu and Sarawak,Malaysia. Nemipteridae and Priacanthidae dominated the commercial catches. Didymozoon sp. are found as yellow cysts on the dorsal fin of Priacanthus macracanthus. Philometra sp. are located on the dorsal fin of Nemipterus paronii. Other parasites found are Anisakis sp.,Camallanus sp.,Neogoezia sp.,Contracaecum sp.,Microcotyle sp.,Diplectanum sp.,Benedenia sp.,Bicotyle sp.,Caligus sp.,and Aega sp. The nematode Echinocephalus sp. in the Venus clam,the plerocercoide of cestodes and the metacercaria of some digeneans are also reported.
