The feline immune system is briefly reviewed. Immune cell of the lymphoid (lymphocytes) and myeloid (monocytes/macrophages, neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils/mast cells) series are reviewed with emphasis on their morphology and functions/ roles in virus infections. Non-specific defense mechanisms including the complement and interferon systems are discussed. The feline major histocompatibility complex is reviewed.
