Abstract

Rotational motion is all around us-from the spinning of a bicycle wheel to the rotation of Earth on its axis. While linear motion describes how objects move in a straight path, rotational kinematics is the study how objects rotate around a fixed axis. In this chapter we explore the fundamental rotational variables: angular displacement, angular velocity, angular acceleration, and time. these variables describe how fast an object rotates, how its speed changes, and how far it turn over time.
