Abstract

This chapter embarks on the multifaceted nature of the environmental impact of green lignocellulosic-based panels. It begins with the critical selection of eco-friendly materials and exploring bio-based binders like tannin-based bio resins and modified starch. Technological advancements in greener pretreatment methods, such as supercritical fluids and ionic liquids, add depth to the sustainable manufacturing narrative. The manufacturing phase, focusing on closed molding processes, emerges as a key player in reducing environmental impact. Despite recycling challenges posed by binders, proactive measures like eco-friendly binders and binderless technology are promising solutions for efficient end-of-life recycling.
