Abstract

Exploring the world of unique spices and herbs from diverse cultures not only offers a gateway to a realm of flavors and culinary delights but also opens up a realm of functional and healthy foods. This work focuses on exploring the importance of spices and herbs in enhancing flavors and aromas in cuisines worldwide. In particular, it highlights the utilization of unconventional spices and herbs in Egypt, China, and Malaysia, along with their compositions, properties, and potential health effects. It also discusses the common bioactive compounds found in these spices and herbs and their potential benefits, such as antioxidant, antiinflammatory, and digestive properties. The importance of moderation in consumption and the role of these spices and herbs in a balanced diet are also discussed. Finally, this work emphasizes the importance of exploring diverse spices and herbs to enhance culinary experiences and promote health.
