Abstract
As China's population ages, smart devices are viewed as a critical tool for improving the lives
of older adults. Actual usability requirements play a crucial role in deciding whether intelligent
products can be utilized well and, eventually, accomplish effective ageing. This study used a
questionnaire survey of older Chinese persons to investigate their attitudes, utilisation and
needs for contemporary intelligent products and services. Older adult's knowledge and
experience influence their operation and judgment of using intelligent products and smart
TVs. According to the results of the questionnaire, in addition to practicality and visual appeal,
functional guidelines for products are one of the usability needs of older adults.
