Abstract
Objectives: The paper aims to examine the performance and effectiveness of Online Distance Learning (ODL) in Malaysia. Driven by advancements in technology and access to the internet, flexible education has gained significant traction worldwide.
Methods: By comparing ODL with traditional learning methods, this study seeks to identify the strengths and weaknesses of ODL and provide recommendations for optimizing its implementation. Through a review of existing literature and case studies, this analysis aims to provide insights into ODL effectiveness and suggest optimization strategies. Numerous studies have been conducted to identify Malaysian acceptance of online education.
Results: However, this study differs as it will assess online education performance. Service quality by system providers and academic quality are the main pillars of online education. Our analysis found that both have significant relationships with continuation in online education.
Conclusion: The findings suggest that while academic quality and system performance are critical factors influencing student retention, service value does not directly affect retention despite its significant relationship with the system. These insights provide valuable implications for educators and service providers aiming to enhance student engagement and retention in synchronous online learning environments.
