Abstract
This review synthesizes current knowledge on Pinus halepensis Mill. with a specific emphasis on its ecological importance, growth dynamics, and interactions with soil in the Mediterranean region. As a dominant species in afforestation projects globally, particularly in the Mediterranean Basin, this article of-fers a concise overview of the distribution, adaptability to arid environments, and diffusion mechanisms of Aleppo pine trees. Emphasis is placed on the characteristics of aboveground growth, specifically examining the factors that affect radial growth based on dendrological analysis. The impact of soil on Pi-nus halepensis growth is scrutinized, highlighting its capacity to adapt to low fertility and salinity while addressing water retention and erosion control challenges. The information presented here provides valuable insights into Aleppo pine forest management and conservation efforts in the Mediterranean context.
