Abstract
Transformational leadership has emerged as a pivotal element in the pursuit of organisational excellence, particularly in the development of human capital. In the context of RISDA (Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority) officers in Malaysia’s Eastern Region, the interplay between leadership, job satisfaction, and organisational competence warrants critical examination. This study investigates the relationship between transformational leadership and job satisfaction, and how these factors collectively influence organisational competence. Employing a quantitative research design, the study surveyed 254 RISDA officers and support staff using validated instruments, namely the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ), Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS), and the Competency Assessment Questionnaire (CAQ). Findings indicate a significant and positive correlation between transformational leadership and job satisfaction, both of which contribute meaningfully to organisational competence. The results suggest that fostering transformational leadership can enhance employees’ satisfaction and professional capacity, thereby advancing the agency’s strategic effectiveness in the plantation sector.
