This research aims to explore the complex interconnections between bank credit and economic growth across six ASEAN countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Furthermore, it seeks to clarify the association between banking development and economic growth in the ASEAN context. Additionally, the study examines the correlation between public debt and economic growth. The fluctuations in GDP act as a gauge, mirroring the economic progress or decline of each country. The empirical findings underscore a robust correlation between a nation's economic growth and its status concerning bank credit and public debt, while demonstrating a comparatively weaker association with the banking sector itself. Consequently, it is deduced that bank credit and public debt wield more substantial influence as variables determining economic growth within these nations, in contrast to the influence of the banking sector. This study thus sheds light on the pivotal role of bank credit and prudent management of public debt in propelling economic growth within the ASEAN countries, delineating a critical pathway for sustainable economic development.
