Abstract
This study aims to assess the effectiveness of utilizing virtual reality (VR) as a means of modifying visitor behavior at the Dinghu Mountain National Nature Reserve. An experimental research design was employed to achieve this goal, involving 254 participants who were evenly divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group was exposed to a 360-degree motivational video in VR, while the control group watched the same video on a traditional 2D display without VR immersion. Subsequently, both groups participated in a guided tour of the reserve. After finishing the tour, participants completed self-reported surveys evaluating their levels of environmentally responsible behavior (ERB), tourist experiences, and visitor satisfaction. The results indicated that participants who experienced VR exhibited a higher level of ERB and satisfaction with their visit than the control group.
