Abstract

Baculovirus adalah kumpulan virus yang menyebabkan penyakit kronim pada larva Lepidoptera. Kajian terhadap spesis tempatan, larva Spodoptera litura iaitu perosak utama tanaman di Malaysia menunjukkan bahawa virus Nuldear Polihedrosis (NPY) adalah spesifik pada Spodoptera litura. Nukleokapsid yang dihasilkan oleh NPV berdiameter 6.45 hingga 133.28 nm dan mempunyai panjang antara 44.5 nm hingga 980.56 nm, berbentuk basili tunggal dan dirangkumi selaput tunggal protein matriks yang dikenali sebagai polihedrin.
