Abstract

A thermal diffusivity measurement method describes a new optical heating beam that comprises of a large number of annular concentric beams and temperature signal detection at the centre of annular beam at either or both surface of the foil. The thermal diffusivity of the sample is obtained from fitting the theoretical signal to experimental data. The cheap and simple invention for measuring thermal diffusivity of high conductivity converging thermal wave and data collection at two central points. Thermal diffusivity of the foil can be retrieved from fitting the theoretical signal to the collected experimental data.
