Three point auto hitch dynamometer

Citation

Abstract

This three-point auto-hitch dynamometer provides a practical way for measuring drafts and vertical force on implement at the tractor three-point hitch. The dynamometer adapts instrumented and inverted U frame that is mounted between tractor and implement. The dynamometer is equipped with three steel extended octagonal ring transducers that are located between the inverted U frame and hooks. Special features include variable width and height, and quick hitch capability to suit for use with with implements of categories I and II. In addition, the dynamometer permits the passage of tractors PTO shaft assembly. The PC-DAS on-board the tractor is interfaced to various extended octagonal ring transducers of the dynamometer. The PC-DAS includes user friendly software for scanning, displaying, and recording in real-time draft and vertical forces on implement behind the tractor. The measurement from this device can be used to generate draft models for various tractor-implement operations for agriculture database. Furthermore, the measurement from this may be geo-reference so as to produce a map showing the soil resistance across the field during tractor-implement operation.
